Each year, tens of thousands of people from Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island trust our Sturdy Health team with their most precious assets -- their health and the health of those they love. Since 1913, Sturdy has stood steadfast in its mission and ready to meet our community's health care needs. We are deeply proud to continue this legacy more than a century later.
The generous support of donors like you strengthens our ability to fulfill our mission by providing us with much needed resources to invest in new technology, renovate and expand our facilities, care for patients with complex/unique needs, and offer our region an array health-focused classes, events and support groups.

#1 We've faced historic challenges in recent years.
While our Sturdy Health team is as strong as ever, our finances are not immune to the challenges we've faced in recent years, including declining reimbursement rates and historic and permanent increases in our labor and supply costs triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
These factors resulted in the vast majority of nonprofit health systems, including Sturdy Health, reporting negative operating margins.
#2 We've charted a strategic path forward.
We are not only Sturdy, we are also strategic stewards of our resources. In 2022, Sturdy Health began implementing its first-ever enterprise strategic plan. This milestone followed nearly a year of discussions, planning and a comprehensive third-party assessment by experts with significant experience helping health systems like Sturdy Health succeed in an increasingly challenging and competitive marketplace. Our Strategic Plan includes a detailed financial recovery and sustainability plan, which we are already advancing.
#3 We're fully invested in our shared future.
Our roots are in Attleboro and the surrounding region, and so is our future. Our strategic plan includes a series of historic investments that will position us to grow our medical staff and broaden the number of services we offer locally, as well as transform our facilities, footprint and brand to better reflect who we are today and where we are headed in the future.
Investments include the construction of a state-of-the-art new Medical Office Building that will transform the experience we provide our patients and the overall look and feel of our hospital campus. This is just the beginning of what will be a decade long transformation of Sturdy Health.
We marked the beginning of this transformation by updating our name to reflect our growth and evolution from a single hospital into a full-service health system.

Host a Community Fundraiser
People in our community contribute to Sturdy Health for various personal reasons:

Structured & Planned Gifts
There are many different types of gifts that can be planned in advance or transferred to Sturdy Health, including bequests through our Legacy Society, the donation of insurance policies or appreciated securities or the transfer of assets and gift matching. Gifts of Real Estate
Real estate may be given outright during your lifetime through a bequest or a life estate agreement whereby you transfer the title of your home and retain the right to live there and use it for life while maintaining responsibility for upkeep.
Gifts of Life Insurance
By contributing an insurance policy to the Sturdy Health Foundation, you can take a charitable deduction approximately equal to the cash value at the time of the gift. Annual premiums still to be made are tax deductible each year.
Gifts of Securities
Giving appreciated securities to the Foundation allows you to deduct the full fair market value of the stock as a charitable contribution, while bypassing all capital gains taxes.
Matching Gifts
Many corporations match gifts to the Sturdy Health Foundation through their giving programs. If your employer offers a gift matching program, your human resources department will provide a form for you to send in with your gift.

Donor Advised Funds
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a philanthropic savings account with the flexibility to recommend the amount and frequency of gifts with tax benefits.
The DAF sponsor handles all disbursements and records and there are no transaction fees.
You can use your DAF to make a gift to the Sturdy Health Foundation.
