Food School
The Food School at Sturdy uses the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to eating. Our SOS trained occupational and speech therapists will work with you and your child to help identify what may be causing your child's challenges with food. The SOS approach aims to increase your child's comfort levels with food by allowing interaction, learning and exploration of foods in a playful and non-stressful way. Our therapists will work with you to provide you with education and engage you in your child's therapy.
If your child is struggling with any of the following, the Food School may be able to help:
- Reflux
- Crying or arching back during feeding
- Unable to transition off of a bottle or baby food
- Choking, coughing, or gagging while eating
- Vomiting regularly
- Food refusal
- Picky eating
- Difficulty gaining weight
- Avoiding foods in specific food groups or texture
