Diabetes Management Program
Diabetes education helps you become more aware of diabetes, learn what it takes to treat, and gives you the power to control it. Our Diabetes Management Program is an interactive education process led by a Diabetes Educator to assess, identify, and assist people with diabetes, and their families, on ways to best manage their disease and prevent complications. Our Diabetes Management Program has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education and Support.
The Program focuses on the 7 self-care behaviors for improved health:
- Healthy eating
- Being active
- Monitoring your blood sugar
- Taking medication
- Reducing risks
- Problem solving
- Healthy coping
What can I expect?
An educational session with a diabetes educator, that includes:
- Assessment of your educational needs
- Review of diabetes disease process
- Tips to assist in overcoming barriers to healthy behaviors
- Incorporating blood glucose testing and medications into daily routine
- Scheduling follow-up visits to monitor progress; if appropriate
Endocrinology
Our endocrinology physician, Dr. Narmada Movva, and staff provide the full spectrum of endocrine services, including diabetes management, thyroid disease management, and treatment of hormonal disorders, as well as treatment for the more complicated endocrine disorders.
