Breast Cancer
Breast cancer begins when the healthy cells of the breast grow out of control. It's one of the most common cancers in women, although it can occur in men too. There are different types of breast cancer and no type of cancer is the same in each person. Your doctor will be able to guide you through a diagnosis and treatment plan that is specific to you and your needs.
Signs and Symptoms
- A lump
- Discomfort
- Nipple Discharge
- Inverted nipple
- Red or swollen breasts
- Itchy breasts
These symptoms may not be an indicator of cancer in your own body. Every patient is different and it's important to be open with your physician about your medical and family history so the best options for care are planned in a timely manner.
Detection and Diagnosis
Regular breast screening is the best way to maintain breast health and detect cancer in its early stages when it's most treatable. Recommendations from the American College of Radiology suggest screening mammograms begin at age 40, but your doctor may advise differently based on your family history and other factors.
At Sturdy, our Breast Health Program provides the highest quality of breast health care to our community, which means you don't have to travel far to access cutting-edge treatment and services.
