How do you approach care?
Infections can be acute and life-threatening, and they can be chronic, life-long diseases intimately tied to a patient's social and emotional well-being. My favorite part of my profession is being able to support my patients through some of their most challenging times with dedicated and compassionate care, without judgment, and with clear explanations that empower them to make informed decisions for their health.
What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare and your specialty?
My own experience with illness as a child led me to pursue a career in medicine because I was in awe of how medical teams worked efficiently and expertly together to help people in their times of greatest need. Within internal medicine, I was drawn to infectious disease because this unique specialty affects persons of all genders and ages, affects all organ systems in the body, is tremendously varied, and is constantly changing.
Why did you choose to join Sturdy Health?
I was drawn to Sturdy Health because it has operated as a free-standing, community health organization for over 110 years with healthcare employees who are dedicated and happy to make it their professional home and prioritize patient care over profit — something that can be difficult to find in medicine today.
What are your personal interests?
I enjoy having dance parties with my husband, three children, and two cats, flying through audiobooks on my commute, cooking, and eating great food, traveling, and seeing shows.
