Dr. Sneed received his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Ochsner Clinic & Foundation Hospital in Louisiana.

As an athlete in high school, Dr. James Snead was introduced to the career path of orthopedics. Feeling this profession was challenging and exciting, he decided to pursue the specialty through medical school. 

Now in his career at as Chief of Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Sturdy Health, Dr. Snead finds fulfillment when he can get his patients back to doing the things they enjoy. He sees every patient as a unique and new challenge and treats his patients with the same care he would give to his own family. 

At an appointment with Dr. Snead, patients can expect to review the origin and nature of the their injury or problem and receive an examination to find the source of the pain. A treatment plan will be developed to work on eradicating pain or dysfunction. This plan may include physical therapy, activity modification, medical injections, or surgical intervention. 

Dr. Snead specializes in sports medicine with a unique expertise in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, including repair of torn rotator cuffs and labral tears of the shoulder, as well as ACL reconstructions of the knee – all via a small camera (arthroscope). He performs a number of knee ligament (ACL) reconstructions, shoulder and knee arthroscopies per year.

In his free time, Dr. Snead and his family are involved in health and fitness. You might find him biking, hiking, running, or traveling with his wife and three children.
