According to the National Institute of Health it is estimated that over 6.5 million people suffer from non-healing or chronic wounds. This number is expected to grow as the population ages and as diseases such as diabetes and obesity increase.
Our team of physicians, surgeons, and nurses evaluates and treats patients with wounds and ulcers related to the following conditions:
- Diabetes
- Trauma and surgical wounds
- Venous insufficiency
- Pressure ulcers
- Arterial circulation disorders
- Collagen vascular disease
In addition to the wound management team, we also offer infectious disease consultations and nutrition support.
Wound Management Services
When you call for an appointment, you're taking the first important step in your wound care. We only treat wounds in our Wound Management Services Center, therefore you will continue to see your regular doctor for all other routine medical care. We will update your doctors about our recommendations after your first visit, every four weeks, or until your wound is healed.
At your first visit you will be brought into an exam room where a nurse or medical assistant will evaluate your wound and review your medical history and general health. You may have blood tests and other tests that will provide us with information about the flow of blood and oxygen to your wound.
Your Treatment Program
A case manager will be assigned to coordinate your care. Once your test results are in, our team will develop a treatment program for you. It will involve regular visits to provide treatment, assess the progress of wound healing, and make any changes needed. You and your caregiver will also be instructed home wound care, dressing changes, and ways to protect your wound from further injury.
You are a vital part of your treatment program - any time you have questions about your treatment progress, remember that we are available to you. We want you to ask for help when it's needed. We are dedicated to healing your wound.
