How do you approach care?
I use active listening to thoroughly understand patients' concerns, set goals around the things that are challenging for them, and create a practical treatment approach that patients can use to gradually progress into an independent self-management program.
What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare and your specialty?
I've had a longstanding interest in healthcare since I was in high school. I started down a couple different paths while I was in college but never quite settled on anything. I worked a few different jobs while I was figuring out my career and saw how life-changing physical therapy could be for some people. I pursued graduate school, and my clinical experiences gave me the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population — people with neurological conditions, dizziness and balance conditions, and orthopedic conditions — and I loved it. I now get to work in our outpatient physical therapy clinic as well as our Multiple Sclerosis Center, helping people who have both straightforward and complex challenges to activity and mobility. My favorite thing is showing someone they have the ability to do something they thought they could not do.
Why did you choose to join Sturdy Health?
Working at Sturdy Health provides me with the opportunity to serve the community where I live, and I appreciate the chance to make a positive local impact.
What are your personal interests?
I love to travel and hike, and I try not to go the same place twice - there's too much out there to see! My favorite destinations so far have been Utah, coastal California, and Hawaii, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Europe in the future.
