Get to Know the Provider

How do you approach care?

I enjoy getting to know my patients for who they are. Primary care is wonderful because there is time to get to know patients over a long period of time. I strive to give evidence-based guidance to my patients but to make decisions together with them as a team. I will take the time to get to know what is going on in your life so we can help you optimize the quality of your health.

How and why did you decide to enter the field of medicine and your particular specialty?

I decided to become a doctor after getting malaria in Kenya when I was visiting over the summer as a college student. The doctor taking care of me in Kenya saved my life. I realized that there was so much opportunity to help others — across language barriers, cultural differences, and geographic restraints. I wanted to use medicine as a tool to help others. During medical school, I learned that I enjoyed connecting different systems together and treating patients holistically. I enjoyed working with both children and adults. This led me to pursue a dual residency career in both internal medicine and pediatrics.

What do you find rewarding about your career?
It is rewarding to be able to improve a patient’s life by helping them diagnose a medical problem or treating them for something that was causing them distress or pain. I enjoy developing trust with my patients over time and walking alongside them in their lives to help them improve their health. I also enjoy treating both adults and kids, and find it rewarding when I am privileged enough to take care of a whole family!
