How do you approach care?

My care approach uses open communication with the patient which establishes trust, care goals, and treatment plans. These care values define my practice of medicine and the care I provide to my patients, their families, and the community. My personal philosophy of care is patient centered. I treat the patient individually and provide competent, empathetic, compassionate, and optimal care to the best of my ability. This philosophy stems from the values and beliefs instilled in me during my childhood.

What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare and your specialty?

Healthcare has been a major part of my life since I was young as my dad is a primary care physician, my brother is a urologist, and my grandmother was a medical assistant. I watched my dad provide compassion and empathy to his patients every day. I witnessed the values and passion he had for his patients’ health which is what inspired me to work in healthcare. As a child there were days he would bring me to the hospital as he rounded on patients, and I would sit at the nursing station watching him and the nurses work together to care for patients which I truly admired.

Why did you choose to join Sturdy Health?

Sturdy Health has a community atmosphere, and the teamwork is evident which was exactly the environment in which I wanted to practice. Working at Sturdy Health allows me to continue my family legacy of giving care to patients, their families, and the community. Working with supportive colleagues every day whose values align with mine allows us to impact the community with medical support and care. The collaborative environment between specialties allows for a continuous impact of overall patient care.

What are your personal interests?

I travel often with my husband and will RV a state for a week. Our goal is to RV all 50 states.  I have also been to Japan, India, Azores, El Salvador, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Iceland, Honduras, Tanzania, Haiti, and England. I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two step-kids, my nieces and nephews, and my three dogs and cat.
