Benjamin Knabel, MD is a board-certified podiatrist at Sturdy Health Podiatry in North Attleborough, Massachusetts and Chief of the Podiatry department at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Dr. Knabel (Dr. Ben) was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. During his junior year at Iowa, Ben spent the summer working as a missionary in Cotija, Mexico providing free health care specializing in dermatology. From there he graduated from medical school at the Scholl College in Chicago with a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine where he was president of the academic fraternity Kappa Tau Epsilon. Dr. Knabel is board certified by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

How do you approach care?
I think of my patients as friends/family. The goal is to get the best outcome by tailoring treatment to the specific patient.
What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare and your specialty?
Growing up I had an amazing podiatrist treat me. I was able to shadow him and saw that the specialty allowed for a good work-life balance. It also allows each day to have its own unique challenges and experiences.
Why did you choose to join Sturdy Health?
I was in private practice, and we sold to Sturdy Health. The thing that excited and excites me is that being a part of a stable and supportive network allows me to focus on providing the best care for my patients without feeling bogged down by the management, paperwork, and business aspects of a practice.
What are your personal interests?
I enjoy spending time with my wife, our upcoming child, and our two French Bulldogs (Zoe and Chauncey). My hobbies include hiking, traveling, cooking (smoking meats), home improvement, working out, and sports. My favorite teams are the University of Iowa (my alma mater), the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bears.
