How do you approach care?
To assist families in raising healthy and resilient children and relieve suffering to the best of my ability. I consult with subspecialty colleagues to achieve optimal outcomes for my patients. I truly enjoy seeing children and families in the clinical setting and I am passionate about their wellbeing.
What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare and your specialty?
After obtaining my bachelor's degree in zoology at URI, I was fortunate to work as research assistant in the fetal physiology research laboratory at Brown University under the tutelage of Dr. Barbara Stonestreet. Barbara is one of the pioneering neonatologists and research scientists at Women and Infants Hospital in Rhode Island. In my four years working with her, she was a source of knowledge and inspiration that fueled my interest in pursuing a career in pediatric medicine.
Why did you choose to join Sturdy Health?
During my pediatric residency at Hasbro Children's Hospital, I had the opportunity to collaborate with many admitting primary care pediatricians. It was during those years that I met Dr. Raymond Entwistle. Upon completion of my training, it was perfect timing that Ray was looking to add another pediatrician to the practice. At that time, the Sturdy Memorial Associates was in its infancy and the local pediatrics group had just joined. For the first five years of my career, I worked with Ray, shoulder to shoulder at his small office at South Avenue pediatrics before opening our current location at Pleasant Street where Dr. Jennifer Thomson joined me. It's been 27 years hence as a Sturdy doctor and I continue to be humbled by the loyalty the local community has had to our pediatric group over the years. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such a dedicated group of pediatricians and healthcare professionals that are community focused and provide top quality healthcare.
