Over the last several months Sturdy Memorial Hospital and our Associates practices have come together to navigate the challenges brought on by COVID-19. The safety of our staff and our patients has always been at the forefront of our efforts. With the virus ever-present within our state and country, safety continues to be our priority so that you can receive preventative and emergency care.

With the current surge of COVID-19 cases within the city of Attleboro, and expected surge across our nation throughout the winter months, we have reinforced our existing safety protocols for long term prevention, which includes:

• Practicing frequent hand washing and use of antibacterial foam.
• All patients and staff are required to wear a mask. Approved masks are also required for anyone entering the hospital or our practices.
• All employees must attest to being symptom free upon arrival for their shift and have their temperatures taken. Patients receiving outpatient care are also screened upon arrival.
• Any employee who is feeling ill must not report to work.
• We have increased our use of eye protection, and staff now wear face shields or goggles for all patient care.
• Social distancing is practiced in common areas, including break rooms, the cafeteria, and waiting areas with person capacity clearly marked on break room doors
• Any interactions that can happen via phone call or video conference are done this way.
• All patients being admitted to the hospital regardless of symptoms are being tested for COVID-19.
• At our off-site practices, patients are asked to wait in their cars and call the office when they arrive. All patients must wear a mask and will have their temperature checked upon arrival.
• We have separate waiting areas in the Emergency Department for patients presenting with possible symptoms of COVID-19.
• We have created a separate entrance for outpatients presenting for appointments and testing so that they do not have to come through the Emergency Department.
• Our hospital waiting areas and high touch areas are cleaned multiple times a day.

As community healthcare providers, we are taking every step to ensure our Hospital and medical practices maintain guidelines put forth by the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for safe care. We're are prepared for the months ahead and urge you not to delay any healthcare need that may arise. Despite seeing an uptick of cases in across the country and our state, it remains safe to come to our facilities for both routine and emergency care. To ensure you're staying up-to-date with your health care and immunizations, you should continue to attend your preventative appointments and procedures as directed by your doctor.
